Pumice

Brush scrubbling machine for use with pumice or
aluminium oxide

This machine is ideally suited to prepare the copper surface for the lamination of dry-films or of other printing operations.
The copper surface is perfectly cleaned and thus prepared for good subsequent adhesion of all coatings.
The same machine can be advantageously employed in many other processes of the printed circuits' fabrication.

Entry Conveyor system

Stainless steel wheel rollers (914 mm long) with one manifold to wash the inlet of the pumice sectionpempumice

Brushing section

Three pairs of brushes 85 mm diameter with slurry spraying tubes (610 or 640 mm width).
One hand wheel only for brush simultaneous adjustment and gauge for brush level display.
The bearings of the brush shafts are located outside of the pumice chamber and two additional side chambers, periodically washed out, prevent any pumice spread out.
Open clearances with spray shields. "Labyrinths" have been designed to reduce abrasive losses to a minimum.
Automatic rinsing system for washing all abrasive accumulations .
The slurry tank, which is external to the machine, has a capacity of 150 l and is mounted on wheels for facilitating maintenance.
The tank includes:

  • one pump for slurry recirculation in the scrubbing section
  • one agitator for maintaining the abrasive in suspension
  • one pump is providing for the pre-washing at the exit of the pumice section and for cleaning the inlet of the pumice section
  • one decanter for recovering pumice, copper dust, brush residues and reduce the contamination of the drained water

Rinse section

First rinsing chamber. Two pairs of spray pipes. Squeegee rollers and suitable inclination of the water ensure efficient "wash-away" of abrasive residues.
Second rinsing chamber. Two pairs of spray pipes. Squeegee rollers and suitable inclination of the water ensure efficient "wash-away" of abrasive residues.
Third rinsing chamber. One pair of spray pipes. Squeegee rollers and suitable inclination of the water ensure efficient "wash-away" of abrasive residues. External modules for water recirculation, filtration and recovery of abrasives. The whole system is placed aside the machine: encumbering connecting cables and pipes are therefore not requested.
All modules are mounted on a frame with wheels. Electrical, mechanical and hydraulic connections between the different modules are included so that the unit only needs connection to utilities and to the scrubber.
Any combination of modules may be used.

Drying section

This module contains a couple of air jet blowers for air delivery. The air jet blower has a separate turbine. The 5 Hp turbine is placed inside a wheeled sound-proof box. The aspiration inlet includes a cartridge round filter.
The special blowers are featured by high efficiency in the hole drying.
The large turbine produces high temperature of 45°C appr.All electrical controls and push buttons are located inside the electrical console of the scrubber itself: a strip with numbered terminals allows for easy connection between this unit and the scrubber.

Chemical Cleaning

Proper cleaning and surface preparation is an important factor to produce defect-free, high quality printed circuit boards. Cleaning contaminated copper as well as removing a controlled amount of copper by micro-etching is an important process in many areas of PCB fabrication.

Typical application includes:

Planarizing

Planarizer PeM-650pola-e-massa

This small sturdy model was designed and built specifically for the removal of via hole pastes used in the hole plugging process. It thoroughly removes excess hole filler from PCB's. The machine is an evolution of Pola e Massa patented Multiroll machine for deburring and cleaning without ovalization of holes and has been successfully sold in the market for more than 10 years. Our consolidate experience has allowed us to build the PEM Planarizer with all the necessary technical improvements to achieve a perfectly flat surface for the "after hole plugging" treatment.

Special Glass Panel Cleaning

Designed for cleaning glass panels in "LCD" technology. A reliable sophisticated mechanism supports an oscillating carriage equipped with rotating "cup" brushes.

The equipment is complete with effective rinsing and drying sections, all fitted with adequate water and air filtering systems.The standard working width is 850 mm (= 33") and the equipment can come with one oscillating carriage or with two counteroscillating carriages.A smaller version with an oscillating trolley (610 mm working width) is available.

Brushing & Deburring

The Pola e Massa product range for PCB’s includes heterogeneous equipment suitable to both prepare materials and guarantee finishing applications, from surface finishing of PCB’s to mechanical cleaning before dry-filmapplication. Machines can be selected following two main basic configurations, Unibloc and Modular. 


Unibloc

Compact size machines, very often including in the same frame brushing, washing and eventually drying process. This configuration is also suggested for stainless steel press plate cleaning.

It includes a wide range of possible high performing configurations, both in term of used technology and process complexity. This choice allows to get your own customized and flexible configuration, able to guarantee expected results even in the more complex processes. Pola e Massa provides brushing modules having 2 or 4 brushes, widely combining each other and, in order to ensure better functionality, sundry washing and drying modules can also be installed. On request you can also order totally customized solutions.


Both configurations, Unibloc and Modular, can be ordered considering three different levels of automatisms:

  • MANUAL - where operators are forced to manually set main operative parameters (i.e. brushing positioning, water pressures, air pressures, etc…) of the mentioned equipment during the whole manufacturing process.
  • SEMI-AUTOMATIC - which allows operators to only set some operative parameters (i.e. thickness of incoming pieces) of the machine, while others (i.e. brushing positioning) are automatically managed by the machine PLC considering parameters manually set.
  • FULL-AUTOMATIC - where operators activities are reduced to a very few initiatives during the whole manufacturing processes.
